INCORPORATING ELITE ATHLETIC MOVEMENTS INTO A GENERAL FITNESS FOUNDATION WITH RUGBY LEAGUE STAR BILLY SLATER

Recently, I had the great opportunity to work along side one of not only Australia’s greatest athletes but one of the fittest men in Australia, being Billy Slater.

What was involved was running a fitness session for the winner and 5 of her friends of an Australian Bananas Facebook contest to train with Billy for 2 hours.

It was my role to structure a session which covered all aspects of fitness training from a general clientele perspective but also to incorporate Billy’s professional advice and years of knowledge from a specific rugby and professional atheletic application.

Throughout the session several areas were covered including warm up drills and games, agility and reaction time, strength and power, cardio vascular being aerobic and anaerobic as well as stretching and cool down drills.

Regardless of if you are a professional athlete, general everyday fitness junkie or a beginner, the same principals can certainly apply to any fitness regime.  These elite athletic movements cover a range of principals that a lot of people don’t cover in their own fitness program such as rate of force development (RFD), central nervous system stimulation and muscle chain development.  Applied into a regular program, these training principals will help you get better results faster!
